Mulberry Green House & Gardens was acquired in 2005, and planning consent was received earlier this year for the sensitive conversion of a Grade II* listed country house and its gardens. The development when complete will comprise 7 apartments and 10 four-six bedroom houses. Situated on Mulberry Green in Old Harlow, the original country house was built in 1790 as a large family residence, with Bermac Properties set to redevelop the house and grounds into a complimentary combination of renovated and new build property. With restoration works set to start on the original house in January 2007, the first properties will be ready for occupation autumn 2007, and build completion is due end 2007. The apartments will be high specification two-bedroom designs, with layouts suiting a cross selection of today’s discerning purchasers. As well as communal landscaped gardens, the apartments will also come with allocated parking included in the purchase price, with some parking in the cart lodge. The houses will comprise four, five and six-bedrooms, with generous layouts and large gardens to the rear, in addition to garages, and parking for two cars. Providing purchasers with a limited opportunity to buy into a piece of history, the original house was badly fire damaged in 2000, and Bermac Properties will provide a welcome transformation to the house and grounds, with its sensitive and creative conversion project. Indeed, local residents are delighted that the house is being renovated to its former glory, thereby injecting a new lease of life into Mulberry Green. Already, the development is receiving high levels of interest, with 50% of the apartments in the house currently reserved. Bermac Properties are currently taking further off plan enquiries. Andrew Temperton, Managing Director of Bermac Properties says: “We are delighted to have acquired a piece of local history in Old Harlow, and look forward to introducing a new lease of life into the original house and grounds at Mulberry Green, thereby creating an interesting choice of old and new build property to the area. As well as expanding our portfolio of residential property in Essex, the properties will provide plenty of lifestyle appeal for today’s busy purchasers, and we are already receiving high levels of interest.” The semi-rural location on Mulberry Green is a few minutes walk to Old Harlow village which has a small selection of shops and a library, whilst at Harlow approximately 5-10 minutes drive from Old Harlow village, there is a excellent choice of big name stores, restaurants, bars and leisure facilities at The Harlow Harvey Centre and The Water Gardens.
